Golden rays spill in through the open window, mingling with the billowing curtain and drenching the room in sunlight, filling it with a melodic spring breeze. You pluck a warm croissant from the basket on the table and top off your coffee, taking in the sweet aroma, your mind still dizzy and racing from the night before–an iconic night with old friends. You met Scott and Zelda at the corner brasserie and for what seemed like hours upon hours you shared stories and laughs, catching up on life’s happenings. You danced until the dark and inky sky turned bright and glowed in shades of pink and orange. The music still echoes in your ears.
You wash your face in the basin, splashing it with cool rose water. You grab a dressing gown and walk past the gilded floor mirror as you loosely secure the bow around your waist, catching a glimpse of your reflection and can’t help but admire the figure staring back at you. Your skin still glowing from your weekend on the coast, where you sipped bellinis from sunrise to sunset. This vacation has been life changing. You spend your days painting, writing, meditating, and immersing yourself in the seduction of the joie de vivre - living every day in an explosion of color and deeply inspired by your heart’s desires.
You remember what Pablo whispered last night as he walked you to the step of your flat before saying goodnight, “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.” ‘How poetic’, you think and you can’t help but agree with him as you look around the room, past the stack of still packed suitcases to the walls lined with canvases and strewn pages containing colorful glimpses of your thoughts. You feel so light and free.
You are a modern master. A muse. And your own inspiration.
